And heeeeeeeeere's Dennis

So we are getting tornado warnings and warnings of high wind gusts up to 80 miles an hour. Starting tomorrow morning they are going to evacuate low lying areas and people who live in mobile homes, in Pinellas county.

Looks like we're just on the outside edge of the "CONE OF UNCERTAINTY!!!!"
For those people not living in hurricane land- the Cone of uncertainity is the area around the projected storm track that may be effected by the storm. Already we are so very tired of hearing this phrase. Just imagine us running around the house screaming this phrase at the cats in the same voices that the movie trailers use to scare the crap out of you so you'll run and see the movie.

Let me take a moment to apologize for making light of this terrible storm. Last year we took a more serious tone. This year we are trying to use hurmor to get us through. As always after you are done laughing, praying is a very good idea. Or if that's not your thing, just sit quietly as not to disturb the others. Thanks!

and now reporting from the "Cone of Uncertainty"...

Here we go! Cue the Kinks "should I stay or should I go now??" Da da da da da da da.

Sorry after years of Hurricanes, we're kinda tired of this. Did I say that we should have been living in Atlanta by now?

So, the chili recipe will show up here sometime tomorrow. The tricky thing here is to try and time your preparations so that your butt is not hanging out in the wind while you are still trying to put the shutters up.

So Friday we will start to gather our belongings. This sucks. After awhile you don't care about your stuff anymore. Really there are about 6 things I would take with me. Everything else. Into the wind it goes.

And did I tell you how freeking hot it has been here this week? 95 degrees today. And tonight right now at 10:15pm it is 88 degrees.

A snowbank. I need to find a snowbank. How far north do I have to go at this time of year to find a freekin' snowbank?

We havin' a heatwave, a tropical heatwave...

Waaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!

Where are the woodscrews? Anybody seen the woodscrews? And the cat carriers? And the... And I have to work tomorrow and Saturday.

Hurricane Dennis

Here we go folks. A little early on in the season. But what the heck. At the corner of our street they just put up a sign that reads Cat 3- 16'. So I guess that means if we get a cat 3 the storm surge will go to the corner of my street ( 2 blocks away actually)
Great. Actually I moved and I'm not in an evacuation zone. But neither were the people in Kendall. that's near Miami. It was the hardest hit area in Hurriance Andrew. We have revized our hurricane evacuation plan this year. If it looks very bad, we're just going to pack our bags and show up on a friends doorstep and beg to be taken in. Not a recommended plan, but throwing yourself on the mercy of others has its merits. The hotel we used last year was just in the news yesterday for hiding a gunman fleeing from killing 2 people in Tampa. Lets see. Fleeing gunmen or Hurricane? We'll take the hurricane.
